Sawawa

Popular Green Tea Shop with great selection of green tea flavoured confectionery.

Located very close to the famous Bell Tower in Kawagoe's warehouse district, Sawawa is a trending green tea shop and cafe. It only opened three years ago, but already enjoys a great regular and tourist trade. They green tea mill stone grind at the front of the shop surely has a part to play as it grabs attention from afar. The big banner for their matcha flavoured ice-cream also stands out and there are always plenty people lining up at the kiosk for a take-away on a busy day. Other of their green tea produce includes green tea flavoured baum kuchen, macaroons and pudding. There is a small seating area at the back of the shop, but most of their business is take-out. Sawawa is open from 10 am to 6 pm seven days a week. It is an approximate 20 minute walk from Hon-Kawagoe station. All the tourist buses as well as some public Tobu buses (numbers 01, 02, 03, 04 and 09) pass close to the shop. Sawawa also features in City-Cost's blog post about green tea confectionery in Kawagoe.
