Edo Charm of Sawara

Friends told me some years ago about this preserved streetscape in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture. We packed up some SLR cameras and shot for hours, watching people, and finding little details about the shops and history. It's a charming spot, and the staff at the visitor center there are friendly and love to inform visitors of the glorious past of Sawara which was said to be better than Edo. If you're looking for an elegant Edo Era backdrop, this is it. The museums are worth a look, too, and Katori Shrine, the draw for many visitors, is not far away.
