Great Place to Watch a Game!

If you're into baseball, this is the place for you. Much smaller and more intimate than some of the mega-stadiums back home, Kobo Stadium, formerly Kleenex Stadium, is home to Sendai's own Rakuten Eagles, a professional Japanese baseball team that won the Japan Championship Series (Japanese World Series) back in 2013. Though many things are labelled in Japanese only and buying tickets without any Japanese support would be very very difficult, color-coded and easy to use charts are utilized by the staff at the front entrance, should you but tickets at the gate. Tickets can also be purchased online via the website (and 7-11) http://www.rakuteneagles.jp/ticket/ (Japanese only) Another option is to go by the Rakuten Eagles Goods Shop and buy tickets at the ticket-desk there. http://www.rakuteneagles.jp/shopping/store_eastgate.php The information given on the tickets can be hard to understand, but there are yellow-hat-clad professionals inside the stadium willing to show you where to go. You can even bring in a drink provided you put it into a cup that they give you. Food at the stadium has changed over the years, but there are still a number of options, some very Japanese like various rice bowls and beef-tongue kara age, some more internationally recognizable like gyros and nachos. You can even see what's available in the stadium online here: http://www.rakuteneagles.jp/gourmet/shop.php The walking vendors bring coke and beer of a few varieties to your seat, but watch out for the hot whiskey vendors and read everything carefully before you call the vendor over.
