    Unbeatable Price

It is amazing how Seiya Ramen is able to serve their basic ramen at 550 yen a pop and that they still have several shops throughout Tokyo. For such a cheap price, you can get over the fact that this is not going to be the most amazing ramen you can get in Japan. Instead, it is an affordable hearty meal that will satisfy you when you walk out. The toppings are priced quite fairly too, but honestly, I am here to save money, so 550 yen is all I shell out every time.

Great Ramen for a Great, Low Price

Some days, you just need a good bowl of ramen. I had one of those days recently, so I went to Seiya Ramen. This is a small-ish shop with both counter and table seating. Since I was alone, I was directed to the counter. After looking at the menu, which has English as well as pictures of most of the food available, I ordered. The staff in the shop I went to do not speak English, but with the menu set up as it is, it is easy to order. They did ask one question (in Japanese) when I ordered and that is if thick noodles were okay, to which I said yes. The thick noodles are what this chain is known for. I ordered the Negi Chashu Ramen (spring onion and roasted pork fillet ramen) and a side of gyouza. A filling meal that really hit the spot. The ramen was great, with generous servings of the toppings, and the gyouza was also very good! Their cheapest bowls of ramen start at ¥500. They have several ramen sets, and a beer and appetizer set. Beer is available on tap and by the bottle. They are open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Their English website is here: http://www.seiya.tokyo/language/en/ If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a list of all their locations. They are only to be found in the greater Tokyo area (mostly within Tokyo), and apparently, the shop in Kyodo was the original shop and it has expanded over time from there.
