Great coffee, great service, great atmosphere
I stumbled across this gem of a coffee shop when I was living in Tokyo, and it's such a pleasant change from chains like Tully's or Starbucks. Not that those chains don't give you your caffeine fix, but there's something charming about a husband-and-wife owned, hole in the wall shop. The couple that own Word Coffee lived in Australia for several years, and after working in coffee shops there they honed their craft - the coffee here is as good as you'd get at an expensive Melbourne cafe, but with a much more approachable vibe. If you're popping in to get a coffee, be sure to try some of their baked goods as well. They usually have a range of different things on offer - my personal favorites are the carrot cake and banana bread, my husband is partial to their chocolate custard filled cubes (literally like a cube of bread filled with delicious custardy goodness!)
