Fujiya Hotel

Historic hotel, but with a few downsides

We stayed at the Fujiya Hotel a few years back for a birthday trip to Hakone, and it's a lovely historic hotel with a unique fusion of Western and Japanese elements. I'm glad we visited there - Hakone in general is lovely - but the thing that sticks out most in my mind is the cockroach we found in the bathroom! I know sometimes these things are unavoidable but I guess we just weren't expecting it in a place that outwardly has so much charm.
