Short wait, quick result, no nonsense mediocre hospital
Price: 600 yen
The building looks old and shabby from the outside, but the interior was recently refurbished. Before the renovation the hospital didn't have a great reputation, but since its update many aspects have improved. Despite the improvements, the hospital still doesn't seem that popular, with the result that I have never had to wait long to be seen and more importantly to be treated.
The hospital accepts out-patients and treats minor ailments, as well as dealing with more specialized issues. They practice internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, rehabilitation and even dentistry. They accept walk-ins within opening hours. On one of my visits I went with a neck injury and they had everything on site to promptly analyse and diagnose my problem. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. During that time I had a preliminary consultation, followed by x-rays, followed by a detailed consultation with diagnosis, advice and treatment, and a trip to the pharmacy. The pharmacy is right next to the hospital, where the service is equally prompt and efficient.
The current Doctors are skilled, some are friendly and personable, to be honest most are quite stoic. One of the Doctors I saw spoke some English, another doesn't speak it, but he wrote down the English of the medical terms I couldn't understand. The front staff are friendly enough and quite helpful. The facilities are modern.
There is a bus stop right on the east side of the hospital. It is on the route of about 6 different buses that go from Kawagoe station. It is also near Shinmeicho bus depot. There is free parking for about 30 cars. The car park is beside the bus stop, both are opposite Bamiyan and Kawagoe Yaoko. Hours are Monday to Friday 9.00 to 12.30 and 15.00 to 18.00. They have additional hours for appointment only from 15.00 to 18.00.
