Historic Ayase River boat dock

I visited Soka City's scenic Matsubara Promenade in December and spotted this small stone dock on the east bank of the Ayase River. This is one of the few remaining boat docks on the extensive river transportation system of historic Edo. The park has wide spaces to play and access to the riverfront shaded by the huge pine trees on the west bank. Soka City's webpage explains that the dock is in use with wabune, wooden boats lovingly restored by the city and private citizens. The boats take passengers for a short cruise along the river periodically from March to November.
