Kawaii Monster Café Harajuku

I love themed cafés and restaurants, and so I didn't had any other choice then visiting the KAWAII MONSTER CAFE which opened in Harajuku on 1st August 2015. I don't know if it is still such popular, but when we went there in January 2016 we still needed to line up in front the café for around one hour. Before you enter you can decided in which of the four different designed areas you want to sit. There are MUSHROOM DISCO, MILK STAND, BAR EXPERIMENT und MEL-TEA ROOM. We ended up at the MILD STAND which had quite a unique design. However, you are free to walk around the whole café and all areas to fill and take photos. Don't miss the colorful bathroom! Also some of the staff people are costumized as "kawaii monster" and you can take photos with them. At the table you get the menue on an ipad inside a sweet case. There are many different colorful drinks and foods which make it difficult to decide. Also the chopsticks have unique colors. Highlight many are the colorful sauces and cream which all have their own taste. You also can order colorful pasta and different sweets like cake, popcorn and parfait. However, everything on this list is pretty pricy. Futhermore you have to pay a "seat fee" of ¥ 500 for every person. You will get a point card then, so you don't have to pay the fee again on you next visit. The dishes are kind of small, the prices are arond ¥ 710 for salat or ¥ 1,300 for the colorful pasta. Especially the sweets are pretty expensive with ¥ 850 Yen for a piece of cake (the whole cake is ¥ 2,800). Colorful Poison Parfait costs ¥ 2,300, however it's big enough to share with 3-4 people. You can see the menue on the website of Kawaii Monster Cafe. In the end, we enjoyed our visit there. It's actually pretty fun, even so the music is a bit too loud. It's like entering another colorful world to forget your boring everyday life. You can find the Kawaii Monster Cafe at 4th floor of YM Square Building, around 5 minutes from Harajuku station. It's opened every day from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm (last entry 3:30 pm) and from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
