Inokashira Benzaiten

Shrine within Inokashira Park

Inokashira Benzaiten is located on the grounds of Inokashira Park, and although it seems beautiful and serene it's got a bit of an urban legend behind it that might want to make you steer clear of it if you're in a happy relationship! Apparently Benzaiten has a bit of spite or jealousy for couples, and will curse them (this allegedly extends to things like riding the boats on Inokashira Pond, too). I can say though that I rode those Inokashira Pond boats in my first year in Japan and my husband and I are still married, so...take it with a grain of salt! It is a pretty shrine, though!
