Fantastic Fruit Parfaits and Kakigori
This place is great. If your road trip through Yamagata takes you to Yonezawa, this is a great place to stop for a mid-morning fruity brunch or a mid-afternoon pick-me-up in the form of a variety of fruity dessert options that can really be enjoyed anytime. My daughter and I both enjoyed mixed fruit kakirogi shaved ice while my husband went for a smaller fruit parfait. Fruit patrons sit on the second floor where the decor is early 90s business, the music is early 50s Americana, and the view is a subtle reminder of how unique a place like this is in a little mountain town in northwestern Japan. Gelato is also on the menu and customers for that are encouraged to sit downstairs in the ice cream parlor section of the store. This was a fun and delicious way to start our day in Yonezawa. The entrance to the restaurant is inside a frui shop, so if you want to take some home, the options are right there.
