Lovely Siumai and Steamed Buns to go

Apparently Horai is kinda famous in the Kansai area, and even time I pass by Kyoto station, I always try to get some to go. The lines are usually not that short, and their products are not necessarily cheap, but they are absolutely delicious! The siumai is meaty and the steamed buns are weighty. I usually get their option of the chilled products so that I can eat them at home afterwards, which are easily prepared at home with just a microwave. If you are looking for a souvenior, they are great choices as well!

    Fresh, Quick Steamed Buns

I've never heard of 551 Horai, but am I glad I came across it at Kyoto station. This place has the softest, juiciest steamed buns I've ever had, and this is coming from someone who grew up eating pork buns on the regular! Unfortunately, there isn't any seating, as it is only for take-out orders. The shop is meant to cater to travellers, so if you're about to hop into a bullet train, it would be a decent article of food to pick up before setting off. It does smell a bit though, so be mindful of that.
