    NO WAIT.

When a decision had to be made about where to go for immigration related needs, we had two options where we live. One is the more popular option, to go into the biggest city and biggest immigration office in the region, in Fukuoka. The second option was to go to our next door neighbor prefecture, Saga, to the branch office in Saga city. The cost for transportation and the travel time were almost equal. The choice to go to Saga prefecture was maybe because smaller branch offices have less fraud to deal with and it was potentially easier and faster. The Saga Branch Immigration Office is about a ten minute walk from Saga Station (JR Nagasaki Main Line), in a sterile looking government building, on the sixth floor. The office is small, with 2-4 employees working, and I have seen other visitors twice in the four times we've been there. Which means: NO WAIT. At all. Ever. The last visit was ten minutes total in the office, to pick up a renewed zairyu card. Staff we have spoken with are all professional and kind. I recommend not only this office over the Fukuoka Office (which I have never been to), but any branch office, when you have the option to use them. It really helps save time and stress when you don't have to wait for staff (that doesn't even want to be there). Keep in mind that branch offices will close entirely for an hour during lunch as they have a smaller number of staff, so be sure to check open hours.
