    A lot of fun!

Oyumino Minami Kouen (Oyumino South Park) is a long-time favorite of my kids - and honestly, me as well. It’s pretty accessible to where we live and provides plenty of entertainment, not overly large but still enough to make the time out for the drive worth it and not attracting the crowds that more well-known parks tend to get. Most kids will immediately be drawn to the long slide that takes advantage of the slope. It’s long enough to be exciting without being overly daunting or requiring a slider toy to comfortably use. The hillside climb up may be unnerving at first glance to parents of younger kids, but it’s actually quite doable and there are also numerous other ways to get to the top. Another small playground also provides plenty of fun, as do some climbing ropes and monkey bars. The whole park takes advantage of the hillside it’s built in with creative stairs and walkways along with many trees. While my children still love the slide, they’re now at least as interested in roaming around and playing hide and seek and more wide-ranging games of tag that take in sneaking around and hiding. This park is actually very good for this, large enough to keep it interesting but limited enough that the kids don’t get too far out of sight. Finally, there are major perks in the form of the facilities available. There’s parking on the other side of the baseball field - not a lot, but enough, I saw at least two vending machines, and there are readily accessible toilets as well. The park is also not that far from other places, an 8 minute walk from Oyumino station on the Keisei line and 9 minutes walk from the Aeontown shopping mall. This isn’t the sort of park that you would make a day trip out of visiting, but it’s definitely proven good for an hour or so of fun for my kids. We’ve been visiting it occasionally for several years now, and it looks like we may get enough entertainment from it for another few yet!
