Some eats aren't "beginner friendly"

Hakata Motsunabe Oyama is located within the CoCoLo shopping complex at Niigata Station, and the specialty served here is offal hot pot. It's not what I would call a "beginner in Japan" expat restaurant unless you're a fairly adventurous eater. Something they also have here which might shake up some expats is horse sashimi, which isn't a meat that is eaten at all in my home country. I went here with a friend, but it's not somewhere I would have picked of my own accord!
