Tokyo's World Trade Center
I learn something new every day. When I exited the south gate at Hamamatsucho Station in Tokyo, I veered west through a corridor in the World Trade Center South Tower. The WTC name is licensed by a global association that promotes trade ties. The site is historical - the original WTC was the tallest skyscraper in Tokyo when it was completed in 1970. It had a view deck that was free to visit. It's also the tallest demolished building in Tokyo. The new building is scheduled for completion in 2026. Here's hoping there will be a view deck of the port in the new building. In the south tower, there are only a handful of services of interest to casual visitors - a post office, some banks, and shops. However, it's worth a wander through when you exit Hamamatsucho Station. The building has a curtain wall of greenery and a small plaza with seating on the southwest corner. It's a spot to get your bearings before exploring Minato Ward's port area.
