Kashiwa Station izakaya with lunch offerings

This izakaya is a steal for a weekend lunch. From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Ryugujo, an izakaya at the west exit of Kashiwa Station, offers a dozen lunch sets. I'm a solo diner for weekend lunches, so I was seated at the counter where I could watch the chefs at work. There are secluded table spots and a pavilion for large parties with tatami surfaces and low tables. I chose the aburi maguro set, which comes with your choice of either hot or cold soba, miso soup, pickles, and a side of seasonal veggies. It was beautifully presented. Next time, I may go for "Ryuzu wazen". It's a selection of tempura, sashimi, rice, and side dishes. The bill came to a little over 2000 yen with a beer. Not bad! Note that because it is in a basement, you might not get good mobile reception. Enjoy your meal without distraction! Nevertheless, I was able to pay with a cashless app.
