Great British Experience in the Japanese Countryside

Osaki city isn't easy to get to if you don't drive, so this experience is really for those who have a licence or know someone who does. It's worth the drive though. At least for me it was. I'll admit fully to never having a proper British tea service ever in my life. I am from Texas after all. That said, with my natural anglophilia and my husband's time abroad in the country, it seemed like a trip out to this little British tea house would likely be a worthwhile usage of our few hours of a rare day off together. It was. Oh, it really really was. First, you get to select a tea cup from the collection of gorgeous tea cups and saucers from the large glass cases behind the register. Then you take your seat. There isn't really much room as this feels very much like I imagine a tiny old British house should feel. A couch and two chairs share space near a fireplace while another table and chairs wait for patrons in the downstairs area. The upstairs also offers seating for four, though on a rug that requires shoe removal. We sat upstairs and I ordered the proper tea set, complete with three plates: finger sandwiches, scones, and cakes. My husband had a smaller set that was delectable though less filling. If a little piece of British flavor would improve your day, this little trip is one you should take. That space is small but the service was lovely and I will definitely be back.
