Yokokawa Service Area (Inbound)

Nice place to stop

Yokokawa Service Area is a pitstop on the Joetsu expressway on the way into Tokyo. Its one of the nicer ones with some notable characteristics. For one, it has a cool railway carriage indoors where you can sit and eat. There is also a nice eating area outdoors. Moreover, there is a lovely garden with trees that looked like plum blossoms to me (we visited out of season). There is also a Starbucks and a choice of eateries, kiosk style. There is some English information on the grounds as the area gets quite a few international tourists as well as a lot of history buffs. There is a 24 hour gas station at this service area.
