    Massive cedar tree

The Shogun Cedar of Mikawa is a massive cedar tree in Niigata, standing an incredible 40 meters tall and with a trunk circumference of almost 20 meters. The tree is apparently 1400 years old, too, and it's the kind of natural landmark that really takes your breath away because of its beauty and history. Some people say it's the biggest cedar tree in Japan but I don't know if that's factually true or not...but it is massive! You can walk there from Igashima Station in about 30 minutes, or park at Roadside Station Mikawa and it's under 10 minutes on foot from there.
