Massive Japanese set meals at popular restaurant in Aoshima

Amimoto (網元) is on Route 377, the main Aoshima thoroughfare, behind the large ANA Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki. Keep a close eye out for it though, as the sheltered area out front is used as a place to park meaning that cars can block your view of the entrance. This two-floor operation seats diners in their own private booths with traditional Japanese sliding doors sealing off outside interference. On the menu (if you can read it -- it's all Japanese) are Japanese sets that cover hamburg, sashimi, sushi, tendon, shrimp, and more. Some of the sets go up to around 5,000 yen. At the cheaper end, the hamburg set is around 1,600 yen. We ordered the hamburg set and a sashimi set. And they both came on massive trays. The hamburg set was served with miso soup, pickles, chawan-mushi, salad, rice, and a couple of dishes that this diner doesn't know what to call. Taste wise the food here was, at the time of visiting, very good and it came served with a kind smile. And it was all very prompt. I washed my meal down with a glass of Asahi Super Dry ~ 500 yen. At Amimoto (網元) you push the "buzzer" to bring wait staff to your table, and you pay for your meals at the cash register when you leave. Last orders for dinner are at 21:00. This might seem a little early but this is Aoshima, and almost everything here closes very early. Amimoto (網元) is a decent and popular restaurant option in an Aoshima where diners are not exactly spoiled for choice. Just be prepared to loosen the purse strings!
