A feudal lord's idealized landscape

If you happen to pass through Uwajima City in late April, you must make an excursion to this lovely garden created by the lord of the feudal domain in the 1860s. If you get your timing right you can take in the view of wisteria winding along an arched bridge over a pond. The garden is beautiful in any season, really. Even in summer when there are few flowers the design of the garden with bridges, arbors, and ponds make for a great spot to stroll and watch fireflies and dragonflies.
