Scenic waterfront area

Meriken Park in Kobe is a pleasant area to stroll around as it's right on the waterfront. You can enjoy the views out over the harbor area and of iconic sights like the Kobe Port Tower. There's also a memorial to the victims of the Great Hanshin Earthquake, and one of the areas we found most perspective-giving was the unrepaired section that shows the damage the earthquake did. If you're visiting as a couple, I think the area is particularly nice after dark for a romantic stroll when everything is lit up.
