Beyond the Borders

A nod to Taiwan in this outdoor artwork

Beyond the Borders is an outdoor art installation in the Tsunan area of Niigata Prefecture, and it was commissioned in 2009. It's a cool nod to Taiwan (the artist is Taiwanese), since it depicts a Taiwanese-style gate with a bronze sculpture of a water buffalo. The Tsunan area is also a good spot for sunflowers earlier in the summer season, so I would recommend trying to explore some of the region's outdoor artworks and the flowers if you plan on visiting in the future.
