The 1st stop on the seven lucky Gods tour
There is a Seven Lucky Gods tour you can do in Kawagoe. Before the pandemic it was an organised event monthly on the 1st, but they stopped it during the pandemic. Hopefully it will come back, but you can do the route by yourself. And if you are starting from Kawagoe Station, this is the first temple on the route. There is a Kawagoe Sweet Potato Jizo statue in the grounds of Myozenji Temple, and each year they have a ``Potato Day Festival'' on the 13th of October!

Shichifukujin temple with musical garden feature
This temple just east of Kawagoe Station is one of the Shichifukujin temples of Kawagoe City. Its deity is Bishamonten. You could easily overlook this one as it's not very big and the building is a simple concrete hall and a little run down. But it has a delightful small feature just inside the gate - instead of the usual handwashing basin it has a suikinkutsu. It's a ceramic jar underground covered with a layer of stones. When you wash your hands over the stones, the water drips into the jar and makes a lovely ringing sound.
