Mediocre strawberry picking farm in famous strawberry area

    Price: 1400 yen

Yoshimi town is famous for strawberries. They even named their roadside station after the town fruit; Ichigo no Sato. The latter is also the hub for all the strawberry farms in the immediate area. If you stop at Ichigo no Sato first they will give you a list of the farms in the area with phone numbers and directions.

The information is mainly in Japanese, but they have a little English and with gestures and maps you can find your way to a strawberry picking farm no problem. The 3 times we went picking in Yoshimi, we happened to visit on a day that all the other farms were closed and so had to use Imai Strawberry Farm each time. Its okay, it does what it says on the tin, so to speak, but there are definitely nicer places to enjoy strawberry picking at the same or even cheaper prices. The system Imai Ichigoen employs is the same as most farms in Saitama; 30 minutes all you can eat. So basically you eat as you pick and vice versa! If you want to bring strawberries home it costs extra. They will weigh the quantity you want to bring home and charge you accordingly. The beds in this farm are not raised and the aisles are quite narrow. It is not suited to wheelchair users or strollers. I have also spotted mold on quite a few strawberries each time. There is free parking for about 5 cars and they have a toilet on site.

The greenhouse opens for picking from early January to late April. They don't take any days off during that period. The hours are 9 am to 4 pm.
