Kaneta Muramatsu Store (カネタ村松商店)

a place to experience shizuoka tea

Kaneta Muramatsu Store in Hamamatsu, specializes in deep-steamed tea.

The store holds plantation tours as well as tea experiences in a traditional tea house.

This tea house is also host to the traditional Japanese culture of chakabuki.

Chakabuki is a tasting game that originated during the Kamakura period and is played to this day. During the game players taste and try to identify brands of tea.

Available experience【Tradition of Japanese Culture: Chakabuki Experience】

Chakabuki -- by another name, "Toucha" -- a tea-tasting game where players drink and guess the tea. The history of the game is long, dating back to the Kamakura period. During the Muromachi period, samurai got so excited about the game that they would bet property on it.

During the cha-kabuki experience at our store we use teas from five types of leaves including deep-steamed and gyokuro teas.

Try to taste the teas carefully. You'll see that things like fragrance, astringency, and sweetness vary from tea to tea.

Taste teas one-by-one with the name concealed. Guess the brand correctly to decide the winner.

In the absence of any strict rules or formal manners, chakabuki has become a way to play with and enjoy tea in the modern day.

Chakabuki -- the game popular among culture enthusiasts of old. Join us today and try this graceful experience for yourself.
