MAKINOHARA & green tea

The city of Makinohara in Shizuoka Prefecture fronts a series of laid-back Pacific Ocean beaches, popular among surfers and other ocean users.

Inland, mountains rise up beyond the city to meet the vast expanse of the Makinohara Plateau where the tea fields form the largest tea plantation in Japan.

With this setting, it’s no surprise that two of Makinohara’s most treasured pursuits are surfing and the enjoyment of fine tea!

We've got sets of green tea goodies from tea farm / tea-themed park Grinpia Makinohara ready to send out to City-Cost bloggers to create posts about.

The items will be delivered to you in Japan. Create a blog post about them on City-Cost and get 2000 points!

green tea gift sets

20 custom sets each containing the following three green tea items:

Shizuoka Makinohara Sencha Tea Bags

This rich, deep-steamed “fukamushi” tea can be enjoyed hot or cold. An updated classic, changes to the material of the tea bags is said to help make a cup of this tea even tastier. A little extra length on the tea bag string makes for easier use.

Served in tea bags makes this tea a great way to enjoy an authentic taste of green tea, as if served in a kyusu, a traditional Japanese teapot.

(Contains 15 tea bags.)

Nanaya Shizuoka Matcha Leaf Pie

Aromatic high-grade matcha green tea is kneaded into the cookie and wrapped in a crispy pie. The sweet aroma of the tea leaves, err, leaves a lasting impression. Made with the kind of high-quality matcha tea used in tea ceremonies.

(Pack contains 8, *ingredients include egg, wheat, soy, nuts, and others.)

Shizuoka Matcha Syrup

This Japanese-style syrup is made with matcha green tea from Shizuoka Prefecture. Often added to traditional Japanese confectionery items and desserts such as anmitsu, the syrup could also be used to bring a unique Japanese flavor to pancakes and more!

(Bottle contains 200g.)

the blog post

Write one blog post focused on one or more of the items (which will be delivered to you). The "theme" of the post could be in the form of a recipe, a more simple piece about how you enjoyed the tea and the snacks as a pair, or it could be in the form of a review about the item(s) (what was good about the taste, fragrance and flavors e.t.c).

As some background to the post, include some text detailing a little bit about the city of Makinohara and any of the sights, locations or activities available within the city that might take your interest. You can learn about travel in Makinohara here:
