How do you get all the goodness out of your naganegi?
My local supermarket has lots of cheap naganegi. I love the stuff and add it to stir-fry dishes and nabe hot pot. How do you store them? How do you get all the goodness out of the green ends?

@genkidesu Ah, so treat them like celery, standing them in a glass of water.

I learned from an elementary school student that you can just plant negi into potting soil as long as you buy the ones with roots on them. I usually put them upright in a bit of water and if I have space on the patio then I plant them eventually. If you have a little space for a container, they like competition and can be planted densely. They're pretty easy to grow fall-spring so you can avoid buying them and just use what you need. It's good to know you can just put cut celery into water like that! I'm gonna try it.

@helloalissa Hm, I don't have a garden to plant them, but I wonder if they'd work out on the veranda? I've got a leftover stalk of celery in a glass of water on my kitchen counter now. Wilted celery perks right up.
