https://www.kimono-yukata-market.com/ This shop has many plus sizes Yukatas. I ordered some for a friend and it fit perfectly for her.

If you are able to come into Tokyo, there were a number of shops by Ryogoku Station that sold "sumo-sized" Yukata. I know that many years ago, I was able to buy one as a gift for some not small members of my family. They were not the fancy ones, but the post-bath types, like found in hotels.

I check out the back of the store in the plus sized section at the largest, closest Aeon. I found a jimbei set in 5L that perfectly fit my 6'4 father. Not the most gorgeous selection, but there are some big ones, usually way in the back somewhere.

Department stores should have them. You can also try to look here: https://www.okamoto-kimono.com/kimono/specialSizePlanEn.html.

Cheapest shipping method to the USA?

I want to send a box of clothing (probably weighing about 10kg) to the USA. What's the cheapest way to do so? Speed doesn't matter to me... Just as long as it arrives safely. Please don't link me to the JP postage calculator (https://www.post.japanpost.jp/cgi-charge/index.php?lang=_en) I'd like a service you've personally used/can recommend. And I guess if you've used JP, just let me know if you recommend it! Thanks :)

Long Golden Week - What's going on?

Did a bit of light research into flights during the long Golden Week this year. I knew things would be expensive but I was still surprised by the price of flights -- 400,000 yen + to go back to the UK, 200,000 yen + to Bali (if there are any direct flights left) -- basically I'm resigned to not leaving Japan. Just wondered what everyone else is doing, and if I might be able to steal some of your ideas? And open this up as a chance to air any long-Golden-Week-but-can't-afford-to-go-anywhere frustrations.
