Drive by place in Saitama

Could you suggest drive by activities or scenic spots within Saitama? Would love to drive around during weekends or holidays but of course take into consideration our safety, hence an activity not requiring to get off the car is preferred. Thanks in advance for your responses. :)

Hello! I'd recommend checking the website of fellow CityCost contributor @Saitama. The link is here: https://insaitama.com/. She has an absolute wealth of info about great things to see and do in the area and I'm sure plenty of them are social-distance friendly!

Would you consider off the beaten path locations where you can get out of the car and walk in safety? I can recommend some spots if so. As for driving - anywhere in Chichibu, particularly Ogano and Yokoze, Nagatoro too. Kamikawa is another good area. Hanno too. The rural area of Kawajima, Okegawa and Ageo also. Are you looking for a particular driving route? I have one on the blog that genkidesu suggested - in the Higashimatsuyama / Hatoyama area. Ogose is also a really beautiful area to drive through. Where are you located? I feel I'm not being specific enough, but I guess it depends on what area you are in or are interested in.

How do you feel about nuclear power?

This week, the mayor of Niigata officially approved the restarting of a nuclear power plant in Kashiwazaki. My home country doesn't use nuclear power, so it makes me a bit uneasy. How do you feel about it? Would you be comfortable with a nuclear power plant operating in your prefecture?

Your favourite wordplay, pun, or palindrome in Japanese

BigfamJapan blogged about a day for palindromes, and I had a good chuckle. I love wordplay in Japanese! What's your favourite pun, palindrome, or spoonerism (a phrase that gets mangled into another meaning when you switch syllables). For reference, I cracked up when a coworker said "Naiyo ga nai yo" on finding an empty sweets packet.
