Laundry doesn’t smell fresh

Hi guys! I was wondering about my laundry. We moved and got a new washing machine and I don’t smell the scent of the fabric softener. Is something wrong with the washing machine? I used this softener before in my parents washing machine and it works fine.

Often at this time of year I find myself having to clean my washing machine out so that it doesn't smell "funky"....are your clothes just smelling neutral when you wash and dry them, or do they have a weird smell? Usually I run a cycle on our washer at the highest water level, and add in some white vinegar and baking soda...let that do its thing...and it tends to smell fresh after that. The only other thing I was thinking of is if the water level is higher than what you were previously used to and it's diluting your detergent more so that the fresh laundry detergent smell isn't so pronounced.

The clothes just smell neutral, but some has a faint scent of the detergent but not the softener. Does the minutes of 脱水 affects the scent of the detergent/softener?

@thepangans I don't think the time cycle would affect it, more just the liters of water. I find that when I do a small load and keep the water level low, my clothes smell more of detergent than when I am washing a full load and have the machine basically at capacity.

@genkidesu Thank you for the reply. I'll try that next time.

You can get a washing machine cleaner from the store. You pour it in and run the washer without clothes, and cleans it out and helps the smell!!

@reishiitravels do i need to clean it even if it’s brand new? The machine is just a month old.

You shouldn't need to clean it when it is still so new. Is there like a special slot on the side to put your softener into that will let it drip in slowly?

What sakura apps / websites are you using in 2024?

What websites or Apps are you using to keep track of the bloom stages of cherry blossoms in 2024? I usually use a mix of Tenki.jp, Yahoo and Jorudan and another one that I have forgotten! (I delete them at the end of each season to free up space on my phone). I occasionally use the app from JMA, but I don't like its set up. Are there any other Apps or websites you recommend? TIA

What's in your toshikoshi soba?

What do you put in your toshikoshi soba? One year I sauteed some chicken and naganegi to start a broth augmented with tsuyu, cooked the soba separately, and served the broth with kamaboko slices.

Transferring Pension

I'm currently sorting through EVERYTHING I bought back from Japan with me, so you'll get all your new blogs soon. I came across some documents that I actually completed when I came back from Japan, which was to do with pensions. This took me a while to figure out because it was complicated. Would you like to know how to transfer your pension to you from Japan? People say you can't. The things is... you can.

My FIRST Log! Would You Like to Hear it?

In my last post I asked what you would like to hear from me now I have left. I was digging through some stuff the other day and I found my very FIRST book log that I kept when I toured Japan originally. I was thinking about typing it up and reminding myself of what my younger self thought of Japan. Would you like to hear about what I got up to? I'm not sure if I can even remember! HA!!
