Would you be for or against daylight savings in Japan?

I wrote a blog recently about whether daylight savings will ever come back to Japan (https://www.city-cost.com/blogs/genkidesu/MYeax-living) and I was reminded of it since my home country just changed their clocks for daylight savings this past weekend. Would you be for or against daylight savings here in Japan? Is it something observed in your home country?

They trialled it in Hokkaido last year I think, but I never heard how the experiment went, which doesn't bode well! My Japanese husband is dead against it, because in winter it would be dark far too early in the afternoon. Unless they did it the opposite of the rest of the northern hemisphere - go forward in winter and back in summer! But then summer mornings woul be bright and hot too early!

@BigfamJapan I had no idea about the Hokkaido trial, that's really interesting! In Australia it really gets a bit confusing when they have daylight savings because some states observe it, some states opt not to, some regions only go for half-hour increments instead of a full hour, and so forth. Wonder if the same thing would end up happening here!

Daylight savings time, no thanks! Just like Australia, regions opt in or opt out. It gets confusing. It just robs people of an hour of sleep. Many studies say it's more disruptive than helpful.

If you were the PM of Japan, how would you positively change work-life balance here?

My recent blog about Sanae Takaichi's promise that "I will work, work, work, work and work" sending the wrong message to Japanese society got me thinking. If you were the PM of Japan, how would you positively change work-life balance here?
