Favorite baby wipes?

Possibly an odd question - but parents, do you have a favorite brand of baby wipes here? We have spent most of our 4 years in Japan living on an American military base so whilst we bought Japanese brand diapers we usually bought American wipes. I find that the baby wipes I've tried in Japan so far don't have the same textured feel to them like American ones. I'd love to hear about your favorite wipes brand and WHY they're the best choice for you and your little ones! Thanks!

Hands down: Moony Cashmere wipes. Over the years I tried a number of wipes with my four kids. The Moony Cashmere wipes were the only ones that didn't cause my kids irritation and they very rarely had nappy rash. The only time one of them had nappy rash is when I used another brand for a longer period! When my friend came to visit last year she was using Irish wipes on her boy until she ran out. I gave her the Moony to try and she (and the baby!) loved them, because they are mainly water so you don't have to worry about chemicals. I am a loyal dedicated Moony wipe fan!!

@Saitama thank you!! That's an awesome recommendation - I love all the points you made about no nappy rash and no chemicals...perfect! Excited to give them a try. Navigating parenthood has been one of the trickiest things about being an expat here!

If you live near a Costco, Kirkland Baby Wipes hands down. They are big, soft and get all the poo off easily. You can also order them off of Amazon Japan, but they are a bit more expensive.

Merries baby products are also good and comparatively reasonable too.

How about a challenge?

Reading the daily blogs, product, and place reviews on City Cost makes my day. I love seeing what you find novel and enriching. But what do you think of a challenge week - one week of blogs on a particular interest or location that reveals our insights into our lives as foreign residents and "experts" on the things we nerd on? Some things I do: The periodic TtoE food blogs, regional posts in Chiba Prefecture Charms blogs, and fieldtrips in the Kanto region where I live. Got 5-7 day challenge ideas?

What's on your "generic" local manhole?

My local area has some specialty manholes (including some from the Gundam manhole project not too far away!) but the most common "generic" one features mountains and watermelon. Fairly representative of the region, I think! What's on yours?

Do you have a favorite mascot?

The other day, on "Strawberry Day" I wrote about "Yoshimin", the strawberry mascot of Yoshimi. I thought it might be fun to introduce a few others, so I've just written about "Tokimo" the mascot of Kawagoe. And I plan to introduce a couple of my favorites. It begs the question, do you have a favorite mascot? And how about writing a post on City-cost about your favorite or a local mascot? Pictured "Umerin" who I plan to write about next!

Who is your hero!?

Today, January 16th, is Hero Day. Who is your favorite hero, fictional or otherwise? The first one who comes to my mind for me is a real life person; Mary Robinson, a former president of Ireland (moreover, the first female president), and a former United Nations High Commissioner of Human Rights, among other impressive roles. I had the great pleasure of meeting her in December, a dream come true. I was trying to think about who my favorite fictional hero is. I have not come to conclusion yet! There is such a choice. Do you have one?
