what was your experience like when building a house in Japan?

I recently built a house and the builder made subtle changes that really affected the entire need of owning the house and paying twice what we originally planned on paying.

We car enthusiasts and when they convinced us to buy a land that was quite a bit higher than what we wanted, they told us that they would be able to make a drive way leading to our high garage that would be "safe" for our low drift car to drive up... it seems that the architect changed the height of the garage little by little without out consent. But since we didn't notice we signed the documents. (They were distracting us with other changes we made. Since we did not ask for these changes we didn't expect them to put it on the plan... I personally think they should have to pay us for a bunch of extra costs we are encountering (monthly parking for our cars, storage...) I really wish I could sue.

To the question "what was your experience like when building a house in Japan?", I gotta admit that even though I've imagined myself living in Japan for my life, I've never pictured myself building a house here. Not that I don't want to, but just because of money... so despite your troubles, I envy you!
