The description

A purple energy drink with what seems to be a grape flavour with zero sugar added. This particular flavour seems to be an early summer seasonal item, although supply seems to be high.

The good

Monster is a good brand when it comes to zero-sugar variations. This purple (okay, violet) version tastes a bit like grape or blueberry. It’s a bit vague on that but it’s sweet with a bit of sour in it. Since it’s zero-sugar, it’s also labelled as zero-calorie. On top of that, it’s got the standard benefits of an energy drink: caffeine, taurine, and all the other stimulants that go in one. It’s also a fizzy drink, so if you’re looking for that soda feeling going down, this is a decent choice to satisfy that preference.

The not so good

One of the negatives of this is that it is a bit sweet, even more than other flavours. I’m usually able to drink two or three in a day (I know, not recommended) but I am limited to one can of this simply because of its sweetness. Its flavour is also vague: even as of writing this, I’ve had this drink roughly four times and I still can’t quite place what it wants to be. The other variants of Monster are quite easily distinguishable. Another negative point is that it seems to be seasonal, unlike the white, light blue and black, and green variants. That means if you happen to like this variant, it might be a good idea to stock up on it before it disappears like the peach flavour.
