At its best in autumn
If you do visit the Hakkaisan Ropeway, the autumn timeframe is amazing. My previous visits here had predominantly been in spring, as pre-pandemic that seemed to be when all our family and friends would come to visit. Our family went up the ropeway this past weekend and the autumn colors were absolutely delightful. If you visit I'd highly try to have your trip coincide with the changing leaves-- it was just glorious.

Awesome views across the region
Hakkaisan Ropeway is one of the “touristy” attractions in our area. You ride up Mt Hakkai in a cable car and on a clear day you can get some incredible views over the region, including all the way out to Sado Island if you’re lucky! The area looks incredibly different during the different seasons, so even if you’ve been up before you might want to go again. I’ve heard that the autumn months are a good time to go, but haven’t yet been in that season. We’ve had some guests visit in the last couple of months so this was our go-to for an outing with them and they were all gob smacked with the natural beauty the area offers. It’s 1800 yen for a return trip up and down by the cable car.
