An interesting spot to learn more about the Nebuta Festival

One thing I love most about living in Japan is the abundance of festivals here - and one of the best and most well known is Aomori's Nebuta Festival, held in early August each year. If you're headed through Aomori outside the Nebuta Festival window, but still want to get an understanding of what the festival entails, the Nebuta Warasse Museum is a great place to check out. Seeing all the work that goes into building the giant lantern floats is incredible - the picture I have attached gives you just a glimpse of some of what we saw at the museum. The craftsmanship is downright amazing, and I can only imagine how cool it would be to actually attend the festival and see them in all their glory. Adult admission to the museum is 600 yen. Opening hours do differ depending on the time of year, so it's best to check their website before you visit (http://www.nebuta.jp/warasse/foreign/english.html)
