British style pub with a taste for football, Ebisu

The Footnik in Ebisu is always a solid bet for a place to watch football, and have a beer in an environment that is rarely too crowded, and rarely too empty.

The branch in Ebisu starts off as a fairly narrow space as enter, and then widens up a bit at the back.  There is one large projection display for showing sport, and other TV dotted around.  You should have no trouble scoring a decent view of the matches here.

In my experience The Footnik in Ebisu attracts a fairly balanced crowd of expats and locals, most of whom seem to be there to watch matches (when matched are on, that is).  Despite being a football enthusiast, the atmosphere here is fairly laid back and in no way intimidating.  In fact, it's an easy place to come if you're drinking solo.  The staff here have always been friendly, and most seem to be able to speak English.

In terms of what's on the TV, the pub's website always keeps an updated schedule of games and kick of times, so it's easy to plan your viewing.  It's not always football though, other major sporting events are shown, and it looks like they will be showing some of the Rio Olympics here.

The pub claims to have the biggest fish n chips in Tokyo (1,300 yen), but I don't really come here for the food.

The pub underwent a refurbishment in the last couple of years so unfortunately it no longer has those table and chairs outside.  Shame.

Still, The FooTNik remains a solid option for a drink and some football in a really nice part of Tokyo.  It's only a couple of minute's walk from Ebisu Station.
