    Excellent BBQ Location

I was invited to a BBQ by my colleagues hosted at Maruyama Park. The park is huge, and it has plenty of BBQ spots with lodge houses for people to rest in. We had a table for beer pong as well. We spent most of our time at the BBQ area, which was a really nice time because were also met some families doing BBQ too and we ended up playing with their kids. So based on my experience, I cannot talk about the rest of the park, but for BBQ in Ageo, Maruyama Park is a good choice.

1 of the top 3 FREE family parks in the Kanto area

Family Walker Magazine has previously listed Maruyama Park as one of the top three free family parks in the Kanto area. I wholeheartedly agree. It is a beautiful park all year round, with a choice of activities suited for all seasons as well as some seasonal attractions too. The main playground is located near the main south car park. It has a 23 metre long roller slide. There are toddler friendly swings with full support so infants don't fall out. They also have some swings in the shape of horses and you sit on their backs. There is a great selection of climbing activities. Near this play area there are toilets, a picnic area, a pond with ducks and vending machines. There are some cherry and plum blossoms nearby in the spring. The fishing area of the lake is beside this playground too. On the North end is the free zoo corner, with a petting hour when you can hold guinea pigs and occasionally other animals too. The firefly dome which is available in summer is near this zoo. The indoor nature educational hall is on the North end too. It has its own car park. In the centre of the park there is a wading river you can use in the summer months. There is also a waterfall which is stunning in Autumn. Beside it is a long cement slide, climbing wall and sand pit. The shop with rest area is nearby too. There is an athletic playground near the north car park in a wooded area. You can collect acorns in this area in Autumn. The park is open twenty four hours every day of the year, however, some of the attractions are closed on certain days. For example, the small free zoo closes on Tuesdays and in the winter it also closes on Mondays. The shop is usually only open on weekends and public holidays, but sometimes opens during busy periods such as cherry blossom and autumnal leaf seasons. Parking is free and plentiful.
