Good cafe and bakery option for travellers near Kyoto station

Location, location, location is what it's all about for this branch of cafe / bakery Delifrance in Kyoto. It's located at the foot of the massive Yodobashi Camera in front of the main exit of Kyoto's oversized station building. The location makes it a perfect place for a bite and chance to get refreshed after a day of sightseeing before boarding your Shinkansen for home. This Kyoto Delifrance has outside seating available in a covered section down from the sidewalk meaning you can eat outdoors here even when it's raining. That said, at the time of visiting it was baking hot, mid-July Kyoto so all we wanted to do was get inside and inhale some air con. Still, in nicer temperatures it must be pleasant to sit outside and dine / drink at this Delifrance. Inside, you're dealing with a small space and a limited selection of breads, to be honest. The menu and stock probably reflects the cafe / bakery's location as really just a place of transit. At the time of visiting there were some nice slices of pizza to choose from which staff will heat up for you (~ 250 yen). The rest of the 'breads' were the usual sort of thing - chocolate croissants, hot dogs, things stuffed with cheese, sugar donuts and one or too more. Definitely nothing to get excited about but taste nonetheless. By this point we'd already had way too much coffee and so went with a mango lassi which did the job although the preparation didn't look particularly authentic. Anyway, we're not here for fine dining. The legs are spent, we've 40 mins to kill before the Shinkansen and we don't want to spent it waiting on the platform. To this end, Delifrance did a sterling job and looks set to be a good option for travellers departing Kyoto station who are looking for a cafe space to just take a bit of a rest in. Hours: 7:30 - 22:00
