Finland No Mori (Finland's Forest) is referred to as a mini theme park, but it doesn't really fit the bill. Basically, it is a collection of shops in the same area. On the North end of the car park is the Hammock Café. It was my personal favourite find on our spur of the moment road trip to Nasu, Tochigi. As the name suggests, the café has hammocks. Unlike some cafés in Saitama, that claim to be hammock cafés, because they have a couple of hammocks, this one is actually the real deal. They have lots and lots of hammocks, both inside and outside the café / restaurant. They are really colourful and surprisingly comfortable. We sat in the hammocks out the front of the café, but there are also hammocks down one side beside a small river. And they have the really cool option of renting a trailer house for an hour to chill out in. Actually before we went into order, the kids played in the hammocks outside for ages and nobody complained or tried to move us on. I found the atmosphere of the whole of Finland No Mori very chilled out and friendly. We visited at Christmas and they had the place decorated with festive garlands with Christmas balls, bows and tree lights. Santa's sleigh was parked outside the café much to the delight of the kids. The menu is more extensive than I had imagined as they refer to themselves as a café. They have a lovely choice of food, some of which is made from locally sourced ingredients. The café opens 9.30 am to 8.30 pm, last order at 8 pm. They have no official days off. Their website is Japanese only, but they have photos of everything on their menu, so you can get a good idea what's on offer.
