Great views and areas to camp
The Osaki Dam Park is situated in Minamiuonuma and is a beautiful open space - it’s very picturesque right now with the cherry blossoms, and in a short time will also have the koinobori streamers hung over the water in anticipation of children’s day. There are hiking areas, places you can camp, and also public restroom facilities. Some parts of the path areas include uneven/slippery stairs so keep that in mind if you’re traveling with young ones or anyone with mobility issues. There are also benches placed strategically at areas that are particularly scenic if you need to rest your legs or just want to take in the views. Parking is free and plentiful at the base of the dam area and there is also a beautiful shrine adjacent to the park grounds that is worth a look as well. One thing to keep in mind as well is that there are snakes present in the area! We saw a big one so just be careful if you’re veering off paths.
