Unique takoyaki creations
Killing time in Ebisu, I decided to head to the downstairs level of one of the many department stores around the station. At first, I was lured in by the smell of delicious bread baking... But then I decided to get some takoyaki after seeing Gankodako. Being Ebisu, the price was a bit higher than what I was used to paying for takoyaki. However, they had some interesting flavor combinations, so I decided to try it out despite the higher cost. I ended up settling on kimchi takoyaki. (They do have regular flavors for those of you who aren't that adventurous...) They appear to make the takoyaki balls in shop, but perhaps due to the location, there wasn't much turnover. The balls were on low heat on the grill... So they were hot, but they weren't necessarily fresh. That's not really a problem for me though, as I like takoyaki with a crispy outside. The flavor was pretty average. It definitely wasn't worth what I paid for it. The kimchi was taken from a tupperware in the back, and it wasn't very flavorful either. I think that bread would've been a better option in this case, but it's more because of the price I paid for this than the actual flavor.
