Beautiful year-round
Another great Niigata sakura spot is Hakusan Park, but it's also beautiful at other times of year. They have plum blossoms here too, plus if you visit in autumn you're treated to all of the beautiful fall foliage. Most of the sakura trees here are the Somei Yoshino variety, and there are over 150 of them in total – so you've got plenty of beauty to go around. It's walkable from Niigata Station in about 25 minutes.

One of the best hanami sites in Niigata -Hakusan park
I along with my friends visited the Hakusan park in Niigata for the Hanami 2017. It was an awesome experience as people crowded in numbers of thousands with their mats and we almost struggled to find a place to sit and enjoy Hamani. What a lovely park with several varieties of Sakura trees. They had a festival on that day so food was also available to buy in several booths. We totally enjoyed taking pictures and had a great expereince. The park also hosts a very popular shrine where there is always a huge crowd of people who come to pray.
