    Legends, tombs, giant roller slide

If you choose to walk to Boso no Mura, the open-air history museum, from Shimosa Manzaki Station, you can pass through Sakatagaike Park. The park is dotted with kofun burial mounds in a rolling landscape. The pond is about 5 hectares, providing habitat for abundant wildlife. For the kids, there is a 78-meter-long roller slide accessed by a suspension bridge (bring cardboard to protect your bottom). The campsite has both simple tent pitching spots and tent spots with cooking gear (reserve 3 months in advance). The legends of this place really got me. During a drought, a benevolent dragon delivered on a promise to provide rain or die trying. His body was split in three, and the people raised temples where the pieces fell. The other tale might give you shivers. The giant snake in the pond broke the river banks to see his sweetheart at Naganuma. The villagers buried a mother and child as a talisman, and the floods stopped. Abundant free parking is available on the south side.
