Expensive coffee but fascinating history

This is not the place to go if you want an inexpensive coffee or tea. The prices are about 1000 yen per beverage, but since we were in Yokohama and were visiting family who were staying at the Hotel New Grand, we had a drink in the lobby lounge here. If you're a history buff - particularly when it comes to US/Japan relations - you'll find it almost like a museum here, since General Douglas MacArthur stayed at the hotel here. The lobby lounge is luxurious and transports you back to a different time, almost - velvet curtains, regal looking chairs and the like. They also do a high tea set here that was priced at 3000 yen per person, which I'd like to come back for some day! The surrounds really are lovely. Major credit cards are accepted.
