Koedo Bar Utage

Relatively new all night izakaya

Located away from the tourist strip and the main dining and drinking area (Crea Mall) of Kawagoe, Bar Utane is a relatively new addition to Kawagoe's nightlife. It has two things good going for it: the location and the hours. Although the bar is located away from the hub of night dining in Crea Mall, it is near Hon Kawagoe station and across the way from Kawagoe's popular hot spring, Kawagoe Yuyu. Kawagoe Yuyu Land opens 24 hours and Koedo Bar Utane is useful for an after bath booze up or bit of grub. It doesn't quite match the hours of Yuyu land, but with a closing time of 5.30 am, you could easily drink the night away ...if it wasn't for the cost. I found Koedo Bar Utage to be expensive for what it is, for both booze and food. However, they do have some specials, like a nomi-hodai (with a tinchy bit of food) for 2000 yen for women. The food is mediocre and not worth what they charge for it. But if you're looking for a place for an after party, it does the job.
