Worth a side trip from Tsukiji Outer Market

Since Tsukiji Market has moved, you might wonder if it is worth a visit to the area. The outer market with the great eateries and shopping is still open. Outside of the market is Tsukiji Honganji Temple. The architecture alone is a startling sight - a tribute to classic Indian architecture. The inside is interesting for its theater seating facing a traditional and typical Buddhist temple. But behind you is a full sized pipe organ from Germany. The temple holds concerts once a month at midday on a Friday. The temple is also noted for the funeral rites of the late rock star and member of X-Japan, Hide. There is a memorial to him in the main hall.
