Small museum dedicated to works depicting snow country
The Tomioka White Museum is situated in the heart of Minamiuonuma, and is dedicated to the work of Tomioka Soichiro, who would paint landscapes both of Japan's snow country region as well as other snowy spots across the globe, including parts of China and Alaska. It's a fairly small museum, but there are quite a number of works on display. You're also able to see the tools that Tomioka Soichiro used to create the pieces, which even include chisels. Personally, I thought the museum was just okay. I've been to better local museums that had a wider range of art on offer for the same price. There is a small gift shop at the entrance to the museum that sells small items like postcards depicting some of the artworks. Admission is 500 yen for adults and 250 yen for school students. There is a free parking lot right out the front.
